Hi, and thanks for doing this tv-series.com interview, I know the fans will appreciate it!
You were, of course, Wesley Crusher on The Next Generation. What are your feelings about that character?
Wesley will always be part of me, because I created and protrayed him during my most formative years. When I look back on TNG and Ensign Crusher, I really look back on myself at that time, and my feelings for Wesley reflect and are
often confused with my feelings for myself. Thereīs a strange mixture of sadness, pride, regret, and mystery to it all.
How would you like the character to evolve in a book, or future movies?
Well, if Wesley comes back from his Traveller thing, the audience should know why. Thatīs where I think the most intersting story is: what happened to Wesley Crusher while he was Travelling? Can he still do it? If so, does he choose not to? Why?
I have heard some rumors about an 11th Star Trek movie. Have you?
The only thing Iīve heard is that the bulk of the TNG actors arenīt intersted in putting on the space suits again.
What was your relationships with the other staff members like, and what are they now?
I adore them all. They were like family to me. Wesley and I were very similar, actually, because we were both too smart for our own good, and spent all our time around adults who we could meet on a professional level, but not on a
personal one.
This might be a blunt question, but are you a Star Trek fan, and if so what Star Trek series do you like the most?
Yes, I am. I absolutely love TNG and TOS. Iīm not a big fan of the other shows, though I hear that the last season of DS9 is really good.
What would your idea of a new Star Trek series be?
It would be modeled on Geneīs Secular Humanist vision, for starters, and the stories would focus on human stories. Iīd look at some of the best episodes of TNG and TOS, as well as some of the truly timeless, classic SF literature, and apply the common themes to a new Trek. Enough with the big boobs and explosions, already. Itīs like Michael Bay took over or something.
If you met the composer of the Star Trek: Enterprise theme music, what would you say to him?
Would you give me a bucket? I think Iīm going to throw up. On you.
Favourite book?
Iīm a voracious reader, so I canīt even begin to answer that. I do find myself re-reading Ringworld and The Hobbit about once a year, though.
Favourite movie?
The Two Towers Directorīs Cut.
Favourite tv-series?
Family Guy.
Favourite music?
80s Alternative, like Depeche Mode, Squeeze, Bauhaus, Oingo Boingo and The Cure.
What are you doing these days?
Playing a whole lot of Nethack.
You have a family now, whatīs that like, and how do you feel about raising kids?
Family changes eveything, we all know that. Itīs the WAY that things change that nobody prepares you for. Iīve always been an activist, and Iīve always talked about "making the world better," but now I have an actual, tangible, REAL stake in it. I want my stepkids to live in a clean, safe, tolerant,
enlightened world.
This june you were on a cruise in Hawaii, onboard "The Norwegian Star". How was your trip?
The Geek Cruise and Star Trek Cruise part of it was wonderful, but the ship was just too big and crowded. The older I get, the less I like to be around lots of people, and being literally stacked on top of 5,000 was really tough.
Have you seen our site, tv-series.com, and if so what do you think about it?
Until today, no. But thatīs more a reflection of my limited free time than anything else. Donīt forget me when youīre huge, okay?
We wonīt - weīll always be honored if you visit. Is it a type of site that you could join?
As a rule, I donīt join sites.
If you were me, what question(s) would you ask yourself, and how would you answer them?
Q: Is George W. Bush the worst president in history?
A: Yes.
Finally, do you have anything else you want to say to our readers?
Be kind to people. Yeah, I know itīs trite and cliche, but imagine what the world would be like if everyone made just the slighest effort to be kind to one person a day.
Thank you for your time!
You bet.

Wil Wheaton is, from my understanding a real down-to-earth guy, a family guy, and a computer nerd. Among other things, he has created and updates his own web site. We thank him for spending time on us here at tng.tv-series.com, and promise: We wonīt forget him when weīre huge! ;)
